The Valley of Flowers Trek is a spectacular journey into a vibrant Himalayan paradise in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the valley sits at around 12,000 ft and comes alive between July and September with over 600 species of alpine flowers. The trek starts from Govindghat, passing through scenic forests and rivers to reach Ghangaria. From there, a 3 km trail leads to the breathtaking valley, carpeted with colorful blossoms like blue poppies, cobra lilies, and Brahma Kamal. The trail also offers views of snow-clad peaks and diverse wildlife. For the spiritually inclined, a steep yet rewarding hike to Hemkund Sahib, a high-altitude Sikh shrine nestled beside a glacial lake, adds depth to the experience. This moderate trek blends natural beauty with cultural richness and is perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers alike.
