Annapurna Base Camp via Ghandruk – A Beautiful Himalayan Walk

The Annapurna Base Camp via Ghandruk trek gave us an amazing mix of mountain views, village life, and peaceful trails. It’s one of those treks that feels just right—not too hard, not too easy. We chose the Ghandruk route because we wanted to see the traditional Gurung village and enjoy a less crowded path in the beginning. It turned out to be a perfect choice.

Starting from Ghandruk

Our journey began in Ghandruk, a beautiful village with stone-paved paths and slate-roofed houses. The village sits on a hill and offers wide views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. Walking through the village felt like stepping into a postcard. We spent some time exploring the local museum and talking to friendly locals before heading up the trail.

The path from Ghandruk was filled with green forests, small streams, and wooden bridges. The sound of birds and flowing water followed us most of the way. As we walked higher, the forest slowly turned into open valleys and mountain views.

Through Chhomrong and Bamboo

We passed through Chhomrong, a popular stop with great views and cozy teahouses. From here, we began descending steep steps to the river and then climbing back up again. It was tough on the knees, but we took our time and enjoyed the changing scenery.

Next came Bamboo and Dovan—quiet places surrounded by dense forest. These spots were perfect for rest and reflection. The air was cool, and the trail felt peaceful. We often walked with clouds drifting through the trees, which gave the trail a dreamy look.

Reaching Annapurna Base Camp

As we moved higher, we reached Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC), where we spent the night before heading to Annapurna Base Camp. The sunrise at MBC was breathtaking. The peaks turned golden, and we stood in silence, just taking it all in.

From MBC, the trail to Annapurna Base Camp was short but full of excitement. Snow-capped peaks surrounded us as we reached the base camp. Standing at 4,130 meters, we were in a bowl of mountains, with Annapurna I towering right in front. It was a moment of pure happiness. The air was cold, the sky was clear, and the views were unforgettable.

The Way Back

We returned along the same route but with a sense of joy and pride. Going downhill was easier, and we took time to enjoy the little things—flowers, waterfalls, and village life. We also stopped at Jhinu Danda to relax in the hot springs. Sitting in warm water after days of trekking was the perfect ending.

Final Thoughts

The Annapurna Base Camp via Ghandruk trek gave us everything—mountains, forests, culture, and adventure. It’s a great choice for anyone looking for a balanced and rewarding Himalayan trek. The memories from this journey will always stay close to our hearts.
