Annapurna Base Camp Trekking was one of the most rewarding journeys we’ve ever taken. We had heard about the beauty of the Annapurna region for a long time, but seeing it with our own eyes was something else. From lush forests to high snow-covered peaks, the trail had everything we hoped for — and more. It was a trek that challenged us, inspired us, and gave us memories that will stay forever.
Starting from Pokhara
We began our journey from the peaceful city of Pokhara. The drive to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek, was short but exciting. As soon as we stepped onto the trail, we felt a sense of calm and freedom. The fresh mountain air, green hills, and simple stone paths made us feel close to nature from the very beginning.
We passed through charming villages like Tikhedhunga and Ghorepani, where we met kind locals and other trekkers along the way. Everyone greeted us with smiles, and we felt a warm connection throughout the trail.
Sunrise at Poon Hill
One of the best early highlights of the trek was the sunrise at Poon Hill. We woke up before dawn and hiked up in the dark, carrying only our headlamps and excitement. As the sun rose, we saw golden light spreading over Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Machapuchare. It was a magical sight, and we stood there in silence, just taking it all in.
Walking Through Forests and Waterfalls
As we moved forward, the trail took us through rhododendron forests, bamboo groves, and along flowing rivers. Waterfalls appeared around the corners, and the sound of birds filled the air. It felt like walking through a peaceful painting. The villages of Chhomrong, Bamboo, and Deurali welcomed us with warm meals and cozy teahouses.
The walking was not always easy — there were many stone steps and steep climbs — but the views gave us the energy to keep going. Every turn brought something new, and the changing landscapes kept us excited.
Reaching Annapurna Base Camp
The final part of the journey was the most exciting. From Machapuchare Base Camp, we made our way up to Annapurna Base Camp early in the morning. As we got closer, the mountain views opened up all around us. Snowy peaks stood high above us, forming a giant circle known as the Annapurna Sanctuary.
Standing at the base camp, we felt proud, amazed, and humbled. The air was cold, the wind was strong, but the feeling of being surrounded by some of the world’s highest mountains was something words can’t fully describe. We took our time, sat quietly, and just looked around.
Coming Back with Full Hearts
The return journey felt lighter, maybe because we had already reached our goal. We took our time, talked with new friends, and enjoyed every moment. By the time we got back to Pokhara, we were tired but deeply happy.
Annapurna Base Camp Trekking gave us more than we expected — adventure, peace, beauty, and a deep connection with nature. If you’re looking for a trek that combines mountain views, culture, and pure joy, this is the one. We’ll never forget it, and we hope to return again someday.
